Haddington bell ringers ring the eight bells at St Mary’s Church, Haddington every Sunday and practice on a Friday evening at 7.30pm. Bell ringing is a fun and sociable activity. It helps keep you physically and mentally fit and is a great way to meet new people. We welcome experienced ringers who would like to join us, and provide tuition for new recruits from the age of about 12-years upwards. You need to be fit enough to climb the 68 steps up the Church tower. Get in touch to learn a new skill, make new friends, enjoy the history and heritage that goes along with bell ringing, and contribute to the wider community.
A warm welcome awaits at the Aubigny Sports Centre in Haddington, where a variety of sports, fitness and recreational activities are available for you to enjoy! Now, in 2017, history will repeat itself in somewhat romantic fashion as sons James and Jack take on the fantastic opportunity of running the Waterside Bistro….

This elegant building dates from 1748 to an original design by Scottish architect William Adam. A court-room and assembly room – with pilastered and pedimented gable with a Venetian window – were added to the west side of Adam’s Town House in 1788, over the colonnaded Haddington market. The Town House steeple was replaced in 1831 by architect James Gillespie Graham. A new clock was added in 1835. The bell in the steeple rings at 7.00am and again at 10.00pm to alert Haddingtonians to waking and bed-time. This curfew-bell has rung since 1532.
